Vanna Helmsong grew up as the daughter of a wealthy carrot farmer. The Helmsong family was good friends with rabbit farmers abroad, to whom they sold all of their subpar carrots. Vanna had a normal childhood until the summer of her eighteenth year when an undead creature ravaged the carrot farm. She didn’t even know that the undead targeted carrots, but seeing her beloved orange roots ripped to shreds triggered a deep rage inside her. Her father was also murdered. The traumatic encounter caused her druidic powers to manifest. She was also forever haunted by the sight of orange bits everywhere. Everywhere! She tried to find solace by writing about the horrors, but ended up staring at her inkwell, unable to find the words, feeling nauseous. She would later find that that inkwell had been infused with her grief and rage, and would make anyone who looked at it in the future nauseous as well. She finally decided that the way to move forward was to take action. Vanna pledged to avenge her carrots and her father by making the undead dead. She carried the inkwell with her as a reminder of the pledge she made that day. Vanna also had a childhood dream of becoming the realm’s greatest crossbowman (wink wink).
